ZIMBABWE; ARE WE A NATION OF FOOLS.

Congratulations to the re-elected President of ZIFA Cuthbert Dube for a resounding victory in the football fraternity; regardless of the issues of salary gate and allegations of corruption, the football councilors has seen it feet and credible to return a person that has shocked the entire nation, who in turn has been benefiting from immoral stratospheric salary rates, yet services receivers obtain near to nothing.

As this is not enough, he was vetted to be a credible candidate before this election; the Ministry of Sports and Culture folding its hands allowing a person under such kind of public scrutiny to prove to the world that bad governance pays in Zimbabwe. Failure to read the public mood is a dangerous move by the responsible ministry. I shall not be drawn into talking about the caliber of councilors who elected Mr. Cuthbert.

The revelation of hefty salaries has not only shocked the public but brought many questions about the commitment of the government to empower its citizen, truly speaking, the government is the major culprit in this, every government parastatals is under a certain ministry and it is the general duty of that ministry to oversee the business of every department, and now for the government to pretend as if it was not aware; it’s an act to undermine the thinking capacity of the citizens.

When I refer to government I’m not singling out ZANU PF as many would want to hear, we are just at the orgasm of the GNU in which both MDCs and ZANU PF were successfully sharing the ministries and both of these allies new very well the salaries in these parastatals but no one bother to itemize the cases. If the ministers didn’t know, then the conclusion is that Zimbabwe is a failed State and should be considered a Non- State coupled with deficiency in intelligence.

The recent arrest of Happyson Muchechetere has to be followed with keen interest; it might be an issue of blinding the mass in into believing that the government is committed to fighting corruption. Zimbabwean are waiting to see if it will not be one of those issues that receive further remanded out of custody on good behavior until putting attention to other emerging issues.

If Happy is arrested i’m very sure as he faces the jail, he will name and shame his powerful colleagues and this situation is likely to be avoided for political reasons.

One of the revolutionary parties during campaign promised three million jobs just after the election, just after that election, there is news that the party openly admitted on the impossibility to fulfill the promise. This has casted a dark night for the majority youth who have been befriended by poverty; in a state were graduates turn to vending. One needs to conclude on the question that if sophisticated graduates with PHDs, Masters and Honors degree are now turning to vending in their mother land, so where can the actual vendors go?

Anywhere, it shall remain a question that, who is fooling who, the ruling class or the masses. If it is the ruling class, time is ticking away, if it is the masses that are fooling themselves, and then we are in great danger.

By the way today is 1 April, Happy Fools Day.

Let’s wait and see
